What level of fitness do I need?

Participants require a basic level of fitness. However, during the course there are frequent breaks to accommodate questions and answers. So the training day will not be too physically demanding.

How long is the training course?

The course lasts about three hours.

What type of mountain bike should I use?

If you haven't yet bought a bike then we would advise that you hire one for a training day. If you have completed a course and you feel mountain biking is not for you, then at least you have not shelled out a lot of cash for something you may never use again. Contact us through our contacts section for more information on bike hire.

What should I wear?

It is important to wrap up warm on the day and some light rain gear is advisable. Obviously what you wear is weather dependent but it is usually windy up on the hills so you will usually need some form of a jacket unless it is the middle of the summer. Avoid wearing loose baggy clothes because they flap in the wind and snag both on the bike and shrubbery. You must wear a helmet and it is a good idea to wear elbow, knee guards and gloves if you have them. Helmets are available for hire if necessary.

When is the next available course?

A schedule of our courses is posted in the Events Section.
