Trail 84132

The mountain where Trail 84132 runs, stands tall and forms part of a range of mountains. The wooded area forms part of the U shape of mountains. This area offers spectacular views. The forest is a mix of Natural Oak and Spruce and sustains lots of wildlife. You are quite likely to find a Dear bounding ahead of you on the trail in the early morning. The woods are somewhat linear and have a number of car park entrances. There are a number of walking trails here and it is also permitted to camp here in the wild. Subject to certain criteria. The beauty of the mountain is that it sweeps down to a really picturesque area to meet the river below.

Trail Description
I have a big smile on my face as I write this because the area here is so beautiful. The trails are twisting single track through the trees up and down the hillside. You whisper along these heavily wooded trails, with the ocassional crack of twigs under your Mavic's. You really are right in the heart of it here. When it's wet you will return home covered in mud, like a big kid. You need a good set of nobblies on your rims because the ground is really soft in places, As usual with a forest trail it gets slippery when wet and it gets very churned up in the winter if there is heavy traffic. So don't tighten the SPD's up too much, you will need to get your foot down the odd time.
I have thought about the best way to write this section because fantastic and all as it is, It is also HAZARDOUS.

Important Points

  • Please don't ride the more difficult sections of this trail alone no matter how experienced you are.
  • Be aware that some sections are extremely dark. So don't go up there at three o clock in the afternoon in December wearing your shades.
  • Contact a club if you haven't ridden the area before or you don't know the lie of the land. Learn the more difficult sections under their experienced guidance.
  • Don't attempt technical trails if you are over-tired because you are more likely to make a mistake or misjudge a section.
There are no trail markings here. However there are strategically placed branches to mark entry points to single downhill tracks. All you can do is keep your eyes peeled and follow your nose. There are several single tracks throughout the forest that offer indirect and more direct routes down to the river. To get you started though follow the main forest path from the lower car park until you reach a fork, go left here and immediately you can turn up at that point to head upwards towards the upper car parks or continue straight towards the river. This wide trail runs almost parallel with the main trail and is marked for walking. As you reach the exit here, cross the main forest path and go straight down. You are on your way now!
